Report: Warriors Not Considering Trading Klay Thompson, Draymond Green
John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors are not considering trading Klay Thompson or Draymond Green, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

The Warriors are only 17-19 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.

“There likewise continues to be zero indication that they would even explore trading franchise legends Klay Thompson or Draymond Green,” Stein wrote.

Thompson becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. The five-time All-Star is making $43.2 million this season. Thompson, 33, is averaging 17.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting 42.7% from the field, 38.4% from beyond the arc and 90.7% from the free-throw line.

Green, meanwhile, signed a four-year, $100 million contract with the Warriors in July. He’s making $22.3 million this season. Green is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.7 blocks while shooting 49.0% from the floor, 42.9% from 3 and 83.3% from the foul line.

Stephen Curry is the only player on the Warriors averaging 20.0 points. The two-time MVP is averaging 27.1 points. Thompson is shooting a career-low from 3-point range this season and Green has been suspended twice. The one-time Defensive Player of the Year put Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock and struck Phoenix Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic in the head.

The Warriors are a “dark horse” team to acquire Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. The Raptors are expected to trade Siakam before the trade deadline in February after trading OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks.

“Pascal Siakam, I was told, could end up being on the Golden State Warriors radar,” Haynes said. “Not saying that’s happening now, but that’s something to keep in mind on when you’re talking about a dark horse.”

The Warriors have won four titles in the Curry-Thompson-Green era. However, the team doesn’t look like a championship contender anymore.
