At 39 years old, LeBron James is nearing the twilight of his NBA career, but Lakers fans everywhere are dying to know a more exact timeline for his potential retirement. Speaking on Sirius XM NBA Radio, James' longtime agent, Rich Paul, shed some light on the current plan and gave a window of 2-3 years for us to expect the King to keep playing.

"I believe so," said Paul on if LeBron will continue his NBA career next season. "We definitely have less years with LeBron James than we've already been able to enjoy... I don't know how long we see him but my conversation with him is just have fun. Just enjoy it because you have a lot less years to play than you've already played. I think we see him next year but how many years after that I don't know. I think he has 2-3 years left in the tank, maybe."

After 21 seasons in the NBA, LeBron James has never been closer to the end, and it seems like there's a conversation every summer about his inevitable retirement. This year, with the Lakers on the verge of elimination, James' future is once again in doubt and it's almost hard to believe given all he's done to this point.

"The guy has committed more than half of his life to the game of basketball, I think he's treated it with the utmost respect and has been someone to give back to the game," said Paul. "I think we put the pressure on him differently than on other people. There was no development for him, no patience, there was no any of that and he was still able to position himself and succeed."

LeBron came into the league with enormous expectations and yet he's somehow managed to surpass them by every metric. As a 4x champion, 4x MVP, 20x All-Star, and 19x All-NBA player, the King has left nothing on the table in terms of individual achievements and he's still got a few years left to keep writing his story.

LeBron James Has A Big Decision This Summer

As an unrestricted free agent this summer, LeBron James can sign with whatever team he chooses and there will be many who try to make a run for his services. After averaging 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game on 54% shooting for this campaign, he proved that he's still an All-NBA player worthy of a max contract.

With dreams of playing with his son, there's a real possibility that LeBron signs with whatever team picks up Bronny in the upcoming. draft. Projected as a second-round pick, nobody knows where the young James will go but it could shake up the balance of power in a major way if he lands with a team that has notable assets.

At this stage of his career, LeBron is only in the business of winning and he's not out to waste his time on a franchise that cannot compete with the best. For the Lakers, this means they should consider every option at their disposal to improve the roster and ensure that LeBron is confident enough in their plan to stick around until the end of his career.
