There may not be a favorite in the LeBron James sweepstakes. But according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, one team keeps coming up.

That would be none other than the Cavaliers.

Appearing on ESPN Cleveland, Windhorst said executives and people around the league continue to point toward the Cavs as the destination they fear most.

“I’ve talked to people in Philly, and I’m like, ‘What do you think?'” Windhorst said. “‘We’re afraid it’s Cleveland.’ Everybody I talked to is like, ‘We’re afraid it’s Cleveland.’ Nobody seems like they have optimism.”

That doesn’t mean James has made his decision. Far from it.

In fact, just about every report over the past week has suggested the 22-time All-Star is still weighing his options after deciding to leave the Lakers.

The Warriors, Heat, Timberwolves, Nuggets and 76ers have all also been linked to James, and agent Rich Paul recently discussed many of those teams on the Game Over podcast.

Still, the Cavs are seemingly viewed as the favorite for many.

For instance, Marc Stein reported over the weekend that there’s a growing belief around the NBA that James could return to the Cavs, while multiple reports have suggested Cleveland has been careful about making additional roster moves while awaiting his decision.

Nevertheless, the waiting continues.

So while the Cavs are starting to be the name we’re hearing most, we all know it means little until LeBron comes out and officially announces his next destination.
