The Boston Celtics and Robert Williams have agreed to a four-year, $54 million contract extension, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Friday.
The deal puts Williams among the top half of centers in the NBA in annual salary despite making just 16 career starts.

Williams now makes more money per year than Deandre Ayton, Brook Lopez, Jusuf Nurkic and DeAndre Jordan, among others, according to Spotrac.
Williams has seen his role with the Celtics grow each season. He started 13 of 52 games during the 2020-21 campaign, averaging eight points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.
The only thing that has held the 23-year-old back in Boston is the nagging injuries he's sustained. He's appeared in just 113 games across three seasons after being the 27th overall pick in 2018.
The Celtics have made several roster moves this offseason. Marcus Smart recently signed a four-year, $77 million extension, and Boston has also added Al Horford, Dennis Schroder and Enes Kanter.
The hope is that Boston will be able to contend for a title next season, but with teams such as the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks running the Eastern Conference, it'll be difficult for the club to capture its first title since 2008.
