The Rockets have reached a contract agreement with free agent guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, reports Shams Charania of ESPN ( Twitter link). According to Charania, Rockets executives recruited Bogdanovic on Tuesday and secured a commitment on a one-year deal.

Bogdanovic is coming off the worst season of his NBA career, as health issues limited him to 23 games (three starts). The 33-year-old ruptured his hamstring while playing for Serbia at EuroBasket 2025 and was bothered by the injury for much of the season while also dealing with a hip problem in the fall. He averaged just 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 19.7 minutes per contest, shooting a career-low 38.8% from the field and 34.7% on three-pointers.

However, Bogdanovic has a solid NBA track record as a shooter and secondary ball-handler and play-maker. In his eight seasons prior to 2025/26, he appeared in 503 regular season games for the Kings, Hawks, and Clippers and averaged 14.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 3.2 APG while converting 38.2% of 6.4 three-point attempts per night.

The 6’5″ guard had his $16MM team option for 2026/27 turned down by L.A. on Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Bogdanovic reportedly drew interest from teams overseas and was linked to the Nuggets, but he’ll instead be headed to Houston, where he’ll provide depth in a backcourt that also features Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson, and Reed Sheppard. Multiple reports in recent days indicated that the Rockets would also be pursuing Marcus Smart in free agency as they look to shore up their guard options.

The salary details for Bogdanovic’s one-year contract have yet to be reported. When those figures don’t come out right away, it often means the player agreed to a veteran’s minimum deal, but that’s not always the case.
