Rockets veteran Eric Gordon reportedly open to being traded

Houston Rockets veteran Eric Gordon is reportedly open to being traded.

The 32-year-old hasn't approached Rockets management to ask for a trade. However, he's open to moving to a "more favorable situation," sources with knowledge of Gordon's thinking told The Athletic's Kelly Iko.

Houston communicated they would love to have Gordon stay in meetings with his representation this offseason, Iko adds.

Gordon is owed $18.2 million this season and won't become a free agent until 2024.

The Indiana product played in just 27 games last season, dealing with a knee injury early on and, more recently, a groin injury. With training camp less than two weeks away, Gordon said he's focused and ready to go.

"Physically and mentally, I'm definitely in a good spot," Gordon said. "Looking forward to training camp with the team and don't have to really worry about any setbacks or whatnot."

Gordon averaged 17.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 43.3% from the field and 32.9% from deep last season. It was his fifth year with the Rockets.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported earlier this month that he expects Gordon to be traded at some point this season. However, it's unclear when that might be.

The Rockets are also expected to trade John Wall as they look to build around a younger core.
