Rudy Gobert Is Willing The Timberwolves To The Playoffs

Rudy Gobert has continued to play his best basketball for the Minnesota Timberwolves with another big performance against the Brooklyn Nets. The Frenchman finished the game with a career-high 35 points and 11 rebounds on an efficient 13-of-17 from the field.

It was an impressive offensive performance, but he also showed his defensive chops. The Nets were suffocated in the paint because Gobert's presence threw them off. This was a classic Rudy game where he had his fingerprints on every part of the game.

The Timberwolves have nearly secured their Playoff spot and need one more win in their final game of the regular season against the Utah Jazz. Gobert will look to be a massive deciding factor in that game as he did against Brooklyn.

With Minnesota superstar Anthony Edwards suspended against Utah due to the accumulation of technical fouls throughout the season, the Timberwolves will need any help they can get. Thankfully for Minnesota, Gobert has been playing out of his mind recently.

Gobert Is A Game Changer For Minnesota

The Timberwolves will go as far as Ant Edwards will take them. However, he still needs help from his teammates to step up when he needs them. With Edwards suspended for the Jazz game, the Timberwolves should not be complacent for the upcoming game.

In the February 28 game between the Timberwolves and Jazz, Edwards was suspended, and Minnesota lost. They do not want that to happen again, so they will look to Gobert and Julius Randle to step up. The former will probably be a dominant force because his size could overpower the Jazz frontline.

Minnesota's players will look to create pick-and-roll opportunities to take advantage of Utah's league-worst 119.2 defensive rating. If the Timberwolves play like how they did against Brooklyn on Friday night, the game against Utah could lead them to an automatic Playoff berth.

The Timberwolves Need Gobert More Than Ever

In previous seasons, the Timberwolves could afford not to have Gobert in a game or two because they still had size. Karl-Anthony Towns was his frontcourt partner and a perfectly reliable center when he needed to play that position.

Now, Gobert does not have the same depth as before because Naz Reid is the team's go-to backup center. Reid is a fantastic player worthy of his Sixth Man of the Year from the 2023-24 season, but he is not a true center because he loves playing on the perimeter.

Luka Garza can do a solid job, but he does not have the same impact that Gobert provides. The Frenchman is more important than ever, producing like a star for the Timberwolves recently. If he continues to play like this, Minnesota will be a dangerous opponent for any team in the league.
