Russell Westbrook Records Historic Stat Line in Nuggets' Victory Over Jazz

The Denver Nuggets were victorious over the Utah Jazz on Monday night, moving their record to 18-13 and jumping to sixth in the Western Conference standings.

While most eyes were on the outstanding performance of Nikola Jokić, who recorded a triple-double with 36 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists, Russell Westbrook also had a historic game.

Westbrook also recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He also shot a perfect seven for seven from the field and finished the game with zero turnovers. With this performance, he became just the third player in NBA history to record a triple-double on 100% shooting from the field and record zero turnovers. The other two players who have done it are Jokić and Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings.

This was Westbrook’s second triple-double of the season and the 201st of his career, which is the most in NBA history. The game also marked the first time that both he and Jokić recorded a triple-double in the same game as teammates.

Westbrook’s impressive performance is a good sign for the Nuggets. After a slow start adjusting to his new team, Westbrook has heated up over the past month and has even cracked the starting lineup, forming a star backcourt duo with Jamal Murray.

With Westbrook heating up and the rest of Denver’s roster playing well in the win over the Jazz, the Nuggets hope that their roster can continue to work out the kinks and become the championship contenders they have been over the past few seasons.

The Nuggets still have work to do to return to the top of the West, but they now sit just three games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for second in the West standings. They could also still make some moves before the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline to upgrade their roster and make another championship run this season.
