Sacramento Kings Make Roster Move Before Dallas Mavericks Game

The Sacramento Kings are right in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. Currently sitting at No. 9 in the standings, they are set to square off against the No. 10-seeded Dallas Mavericks.

With Domantas Sabonis' recent injury, the Kings will have to rely on Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan heavier for at least one week.

The team struck a deal to land Jonas Valanciunas at the trade deadline, providing some stability at the center position for the time being.

Sacramento certainly needs a win over the Mavericks. With a win, Dallas would jump the Kings in the standings in the West. Both teams are 17.5 games behind the No. 1 seed, though the Mavericks have played a couple of more games than the Kings.

Like Sacramento, Dallas is dealing with crucial injuries. The Mavericks got just one Anthony Davis performance before he was sidelined, and both Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford are injured.

To try and make up for some of that lost depth, both teams have made minor tweaks to try and bolster the big man position. The Kings' roster move was a rather recent one, too.

Kings make a roster move before Mavericks matchup

Ahead of the Kings' matchup against the Mavericks, the club struck a 10-day deal with Skal Labissiere, who was drafted by the team with a first-round pick in 2016, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

"The Kings are signing center Skal Labissiere to a 10-day contract out of Stockton NBA G League affiliate," Charania reported. "Third Kings stint for Sacramento's 2016 first-round pick. Labissiere has averaged 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds in G League."

As Charnia mentioned, Labissiere has been with the Kings for three stints now, and he will provide depth in Sabonis' absence.
