Saddiq Bey was tuned in during last season with the Detroit Pistons.

The 23-year-old forward put up 16.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists during the 2021-22 season and was easily one of the most important players on this troubled Pistons squad.

He was obviously very focused on the game – but maybe he was too focused.

The Pistons have recommended to Bey that he take a small break from the game during the summer and pick up a hobby outside of basketball.

The latest reports say that Bey has been training in high-altitude mountains in order to get in better shape for the new season.

High-altitude mountain climbing might not be your idea of a laid back, relaxing hobby but this shows just how competitive and driven Bey is.

Bey Getting Better

The idea behind Bey getting a hobby was to find something that could take his body and mind off of the game that he devotes so much time to.

It would also allow him to relax mentally and physically and prepare himself for the new upcoming season.

This has led him to the mountains of Boulder, Colorado, where he is “off the grid” and hiking around the peaceful natural landscape.

Hiking in Colorado is no coincidence, Bey came there for a reason.

Because of the state’s mile-high altitude, wandering the mountains takes more work.

People who are in good shape get in even better shape when they take to the mountains of Colorado.

When the new season starts, Bey wants an even larger role on his team.

The team has been on the verge of finally getting good again and it feels like the upcoming season might be their best chance of actually becoming competitive for the first time in years.

If they are, Bey will be a huge part of that.
