Sam Hinkie Shows Love to Joel Embiid Following 50-Point Performance

From 2013 to 2016, Sam Hinkie was the general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers. He might not have been able to see his rebuild through, but he recently showed love to his biggest draft selection.

On Wednesday night, the Sixers found themselves in a matchup with the Washington Wizards that went down to the wire. They ended up securing a victory, in large part due to the play of their star center. Joel Embiid put together another dominant outing against Washington, notching a season-high 50 points.

With this performance, Embiid put himself in the same breath as some of the NBA's most dominant centers ever. Wednesday marked the sixth time in his career that he surpassed 50 points. The only big men to do it more than him now are Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.

Hinkie has mainly stayed in the background following his departure from the Sixers, but he made sure the world took notice of Embiid's greatness. The former GM was among the many people to retweet that impressive statistic.

As far as the history books go, it's possible Embiid could catch up to Kareem. However, Wilt's number is likely out of reach. The former All-Time leading scorer broke 50 points 10 times, with the Sixers legend doing it 118.

Over the past few seasons, Embiid has cemented himself as one of the top scorers in this generation. Right now, he is currently leading the NBA in scoring at 33.1 points per game. This mark ties his career high he posted last season. If the Sixers big man is able to keep this pace, he'll become one of the few players in history to secure three-straight scoring titles.
