San Antonio Spurs Reportedly Make De'Aaron Fox Decision

De'Aaron Fox had spent the first seven and a half seasons of his career playing for the Sacramento Kings.

He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs during the middle of the 2024-25 season.

On Monday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Spurs will sign Fox to an extension.

Via Charania: "BREAKING: San Antonio Spurs star De'Aaron Fox has agreed to a four-year, $229 million maximum contract extension with the franchise, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN. The max deal secures Fox's future in San Antonio through the 2029-30 season."

Fox finished his first 17 games with the Spurs averaging 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field and 27.4% from the three-point range.

However, he missed the end of the season with an injury.

The Spurs last made the NBA playoffs during the 2019 season.

They are coming off a year where they were the 13th seed in the Western Conference with a 34-48 record.

Via Don Harris of WOAI-NBC RIPRV3: "I assume the Spurs are honoring an agreement made during the trade negotiations back in February. The emergence of Castle and the drafting of Harper gave them some leverage to negotiate harder, but keeping your word, especially with an agent like Rich Paul has value."

During the 2023 season, Fox led the Kings to the NBA playoffs (and made his only All-Star Game).
