San Antonio Spurs Reportedly Sign Recent Brooklyn Nets Player
USA TODAY Sports

RaiQuan Gray was initially the 59th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Florida State.

He made his NBA debut (last year) playing in one game for the Brooklyn Nets and put up 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and one block while shooting 50.0% from the field and 40.0% from the three-point range.

This summer, Gray was waived by the Nets and was available to be signed by any team in the league.

On Wednesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac reported that the San Antonio Spurs have signed Gray.

Via Smith: "The San Antonio Spurs have signed RaiQuan Gray to a training camp deal, a league source told @spotrac."

In addition to his time in the NBA, Gray also played for the Long Island Nets in the G League.

This past season, he averaged 15.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 57.8% from the field and 38.2% from the three-point range in 18 regular season games (he also appeared in 12 Showcase Cup games and two G League playoff games).

Since Gray is only 24 years old, he could be a good player for the Spurs to develop.

This past year, the Spurs were the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 22-60 record and missed the NBA playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The franchise entered into a rebuilding mode after trading 2022 All-Star Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks last summer.

However, there is a lot of excitement around the Spurs since they drafted Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
