The San Antonio Spurs are one step closer to clinching their first playoff berth since 2019, following their 132-104 road win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
Victor Wembanyama was the San Antonio Spurs’ joint-top scorer with 18 points, to go along with eight rebounds and three assists on 7-for-14 shooting from the field in 22 minutes. After the game, the Frenchman shared a timely reminder for the team with 13 games left in the regular season.
“It’s a lot of anticipating, but we still got to stay in the moment, attack 82 games of the regular season… We can’t skip steps, but it’s definitely super exciting,” Wembanyama said via Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.
“As a kid, it’s something I dreamed of, so I’m already projecting on it, but we got to stay in the moment,” he added.
Yesterday marked De’Aaron Fox’s second game against his former team, and the San Antonio Spurs guard said he treated it like just another day in the office. He was one of the top performers for the San Antonio Spurs, as he contributed 15 points, five rebounds, and six assists on 5-for-10 shooting from the field in 22 minutes of action.
“No, it’s just another game for me,” Fox told the media. “Like I said, we’re focused on ourselves and trying to win a championship. Of course, it’s nice coming back here to see people I’ve known for so many years, but once we get on the court, it’s just a normal game.”
“We enjoy playing together,” he said about playing for the San Antonio Spurs. “We enjoy seeing each other succeed. So that makes sharing the ball much easier.”
