San Antonio Spurs: Victor Wembanyama’s Colorful Nike Zoom GT Hustle 2 ‘Alien’ Sneakers to Hit Retail Soon
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Nike Zoom GT Hustle 2 that San Antonio Spurs star rookie Victor Wembanyama wore during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in February is set to hit the shelves soon, according to various sneaker media blogs.

Victor Wembanyama, who wears a size 20.5, was spotted wearing the “Alien” PE of the shoes, which features a black/green outer space theme and has glow-in-the-dark outsoles. The said shoe is going to retail for $170 per pair.

Before he played a single NBA game for the San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama secured a lucrative shoe and endorsement deal with Nike that is rumored to have a $100 million valuation. It’s safe to say this is a solid investment for the famous shoe brand because he is living up to the hype.

Victor Wembanyama has been referred to as an “alien”

The “Alien” name of Victor Wembanyama’s Nike Zoom GT Hustle 2 colorway is inspired by the label LeBron James gave him ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft.

“We’re labeling like this unicorn thing—everybody’s been a unicorn over the last few years,” James said about Wembanyama. “But he’s more like an alien—no one has seen anyone as tall as he is but as fluid and as graceful as he is on the floor.”

This season, the 20-year-old Frenchman is averaging 21.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.5 blocks per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field through 66 games, making him a viable Defensive Player of the Year candidate and the frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award.

Unfortunately for him, his elite production couldn’t lead to more wins for the San Antonio Spurs, as they’re already eliminated from playoff contention with an 18-58 win-loss record.

The San Antonio Spurs have six games left in the 2023-24 campaign. Their final game is a home matchup against the Detroit Pistons on April 14.
