Will Eudy: Pelicans 123, Hornets 110.
Mark Williams’ availability will be paramount in this one with Zion Williamson standing on the other side. Terry Rozier and Brandon Miller should once again provide a big scoring punch to keep Charlotte in it, but the Pelicans’ versatility both offensively and defensively will be too much for the Hornets to handle.
Prediction record: 10-8.
Desmond Johnson: Pelicans 115, Hornets 105.
Hornets are on a two-game losing streak losing a back-to-back to Miami earlier in the week. Terry Rozier has been the leading scores with LaMelo Ball out and now Mark Williams is questionable also. If the Hornets could ever get fully healthy it would be easier to get a read on them. With no Williams or maybe even Washington, Zion will score over 30. Pelicans by 10.
Prediction record: 4-7.
James Plowright: Pelicans 124, Hornets 104.
Even if Zion is unavailable, the Pelicans are one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Brace yourselves for Valanciunas to bully Charlotte on the interior and for Herb Jones to cause chaos defensively forcing turnovers, for which New Orleans ranks top 10 in the league. Charlotte is severely undermanned with Williams likely missing again as well as Washington who even if he does play will likely be impacted by his shoulder injury. Dyson Daniels vs Terry Rozier should be an terrific defense vs offense match-up in the backcourt.
Prediction record: 10-3.
