Second-Year Thunder Guard Recognized on NBA 2K26 All-Summer League Team

Of course, all eyes were on Nikola Topic who made his NBA debut this summer after missing his rookie season due to a torn ACL but they also had other young players in Ajay Mitchell and Brooks Barnhizer show out for them.

Mitchell led the way for the Thunder in the three games he played before he was shut down for the remainder of the Summer League and he was honored on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Mitchell was named to the NBA 2K26 All-Summer League Second Team where he was joined by Kon Knueppel, Isaac Jones, Ron Holland II and KJ Simpson.

This is an incredible honor for the second-year guard and one that was well-deserved as he impressed during his brief time in Las Vegas.

In his three games, the 23-year-old guard averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 51.4% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range.

Mitchell played a key role off the bench for the Thunder last season before he went down with a toe injury that kept him sidelined for most of the second half.

Earlier in July, the Thunder signed Mitchell to a three-year, $8.7 million contract as he is expected to have an even larger role with them next season after his impressive rookie season.

Of course, Mitchell has come a long way since he was selected 38th overall by the Thunder in the 2024 draft but he continues to show that he may have been the biggest steal of the draft and just another incredible second-round selection by Sam Presti.
