Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is putting up another historic NBA season.
Last season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a dream run in the NBA as he won regular-season MVP, Finals MVP, and lifted the Larry O’Brien trophy.
While many thought that was the best version of SGA, the Oklahoma City Thunder star is putting up an even better campaign this season.
For context, Bronny James has played in more fourth quarters than Gilgeous-Alexander, perfectly highlighting the Thunder’s dominance.
Getting a chance to rest in the fourth quarter shows the depth of the Thunder. But that doesn’t mean that Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t having a terrific season.
He is averaging 31.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game while leading the Thunder to the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
That’s impressive! But what’s even more impressive is SGA’s streak of scoring at least 20 points in the regular season.
Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t scored fewer than 20 points in 87 straight regular-season games. The next player on the list is Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey, who has a streak of 13 such games.
The third player on the list is Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, with a streak of 10 games. But they pale in comparison to what Gilgeous-Alexander has done.
While SGA’s streak is the longest among active NBA players, he’s still away from reaching the top spot in the history of the league.
The record belongs to none other than NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain, who scored at least 20 points or more in 126 straight games.
| Player | Streak Length | Season(s) |
|---|---|---|
| Wilt Chamberlain | 126 | 1961-1963 |
| Wilt Chamberlain | 92 | 1963-1964 |
| Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | 87* | 2024-Current |
| Oscar Robertson | 79 | 1963-1964 |
| Michael Jordan | 69 | 1990-1991 |
* Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s streak is active and ongoing as of November 2025.
Even though Gilgeous-Alexander has eclipsed the scoring streaks of NBA legends like Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson, he still needs 40 more 20-point games to get ahead of Chamberlain.
