Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to solidify his place in NBA history. On Sunday, Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder faced the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks are a team OKC has defeated twice this season.

Their contest on Sunday was the final of their three-game season series. It's also the second straight game for SGA, after missing nine straight games due to an abdominal strain. With the team's best player back in the lineup, the Thunder completed a series sweep.

On top of that, the reigning league MVP made NBA history after scoring 30 points, leading the Thunder to a 100-87 win.

Gilgeous-Alexander is still among the association's top scorers. Against the Mavericks, he had his 59th straight road game of scoring at least 20 or more points. He surpassed NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain, who set the record in the 1961-62 season.

SGA is also expected to break another record held by Chamberlain. The Thunder star played his 123rd straight game of scoring at least 20 or more points. The No. 1 spot is held by the Hall of Fame player, who had 126 straight games.

The four-time All-Star is a favorite to win the MVP this season, and his scoring has a lot to do with it. Before facing the Maveirkcs, Gilgeous-Alexander has appeared in 50 games, averaging 31.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists. This is his fourth-straight season of averaging at least 30 points.

In the recent MVP Ladder update, the Thunder star remains at the No. 1 spot.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is Still Under Minutes Restriction

The Thunder are excited to have Gilgeous-Alexander back in the lineup. However, due to the number of games he lost because of injury, the team has restricted his playing time. His performance was unaffected by the floor restriction.

In his first game back, he had 36 points in 34 minutes to lead the Thunder past the Denver Nuggets on Friday, 127-121. It was an overtime win for OKC, but the team did not risk having SGA during overtime.

"I hate watching pressure moments when I'm not in them," Gilgeous-Alexander said via Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman. "I hate it. I hate it. It's not that I don't have faith in my teammates or anything like that. I just can't stand the pressure when I'm not involved. When I'm involved, I love it. But when I'm not involved, I hate it."

The restriction was still in effect against Dallas, as he was on the floor for only 33:28 minutes.
