It was the Minnesota Timberwolves who entered Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Monday night with momentum on their side.

The Wolves were playing at home in front of a capacity crowd at Target Center and were coming off a big 143-101 win in Game 3. Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, however, had other plans.

The newly crowned NBA Most Valuable Player went off again on Monday, dropping a near triple-double with 40 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, a steal and two triples in 40 minutes of action.

Gilgeous-Alexander made NBA history in Game 4 following another incredible outing. According to a post by NBA Stats on X, the Thunder guard is just the fifth player in league history to record 40 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in a Conference finals game.

Gilgeous-Alexander just keeps making his mark in the history books in what has been a truly remarkable campaign. He dominated the league in the regular season to win his first career MVP title, and he's kept his foot on the gas in the playoffs.

Thanks in large part to Gilgeous-Alexander's strong play, the Thunder were able to escape with a 128-126 victory on Monday to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

OKC now has an opportunity to close this one out on Wednesday when they head back home for Game 5. Gilgeous-Alexander and Co. can put the Wolves out of their misery on Wednesday and book their spot in the NBA Finals in the process.
