The Oklahoma City Thunder were able to secure an NBA championship with a strong 103-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 7. The Pacers' chances of doing the unthinkable grew much smaller after a devastating first-quarter injury to Tyrese Haliburton.
The ESPN/ABC broadcast showed Tyrese Haliburton tearing his Achilles over 10 times after it occurred during Game 7.

Usually shying away from showing devastating injuries, the Finals crew went all-in on it tonight.pic.twitter.com/cZqPPoHPQc
Haliburton hit the deck and anyone with a heart could immediately feel the pain of the moment, watching star point guard's reaction. It was a gutting experience for everyone, regardless of the affiliation or rooting interest of those watching.
Haliburton's father would later confirm that his son suffered an Achilles injury. It was a truly horrific outcome for one of the NBA's brightest young stars.
Even in the aftermath of the victory, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made sure to pay his respect and offer his best wishes to the Pacers point guard. The NBA Finals MVP shared those thoughts with the media at the postgame press conference.
"I just asked if he was all right," Gilgeous-Alexander shared of his in-game interaction with Haliburton. "It seemed like he was in pain. You just hate to see it in sports in general. But in this moment, my heart dropped for him."
The Thunder superstar continued:
"I couldn't imagine playing the biggest game of my life and something like that happening. It's so unfortunate. It's not fair, but competition isn't fair sometimes.
I just felt so bad for him. I just asked if he was okay. Obviously, he wasn't, but prayers go out to him for sure. Hell of a player. Future's bright. That team's going to be really good for a long time.
Yeah, impressive team, impressive player. I wish them the best of luck."
Haliburton entered Game 7 playing through a right calf strain injury that was suffered earlier in the NBA Finals. The Thunder are undoubtedly happy to be champions, but no one is thrilled about the how they got there in the closing game of the series.
