Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Outscores Entire Golden State Warriors Team In First Quarter

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has started the Oklahoma City Thunder's game against the Golden State Warriors in phenomenal fashion. In the first quarter, Shai put up 21 points (7-8 FG), two rebounds, and two assists to help the Thunder score 34 points. In fact, his scoring outburst allowed him to outscore the entire Warriors squad, who put up just 20 points in the first quarter.

Gilgeous-Alexander may not have outscored the entire team by a large margin, but to be able to shoot efficiently at this level and outscore the entire opposition is a big achievement nonetheless. This is the second time this week we have seen a player do this, as Anthony Davis achieved this on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.

Shai has been a phenomenal player for the Thunder this season, averaging 32.1 points, 6.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 52.8% from the field, 35.1% from the three-point line, and 90.6% from the free-throw line. His performances have allowed the Thunder to sustain a 37-8 record, the best in the Western Conference and the second-best in the entire NBA.

For his performances, Alexander has been named a 2025 NBA All-Star starter and is right now the leading candidate to win the MVP award. Shai was the runner-up for the award last season behind reigning and three-time winner Nikola Jokic. But if the Thunder continue playing the way they have, it will be difficult to deny the Canadian All-Star the accolade.

The Thunder will be like sharks smelling blood and want to close the game out soon. The Warriors have not been playing well this season, and the Thunder will look to take advantage of their poor form and close out this game with another win on the road.
