The Oklahoma City Thunder are the only perfect team remaining in the NBA, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander suggests there’s more to come from them.
The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off yet another big win to continue their strong start to the season, this time against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Thunder now find themselves 7-0 to start the season, something even their staunchest supporters wouldn’t have predicted.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander broke Oscar Robertson’s record with yet another 20+ point performance, as he scored 30 points along with 7 assists.
And after the game, the reigning MVP sent a message to the NBA that should have the rest of the league shaking in their boots.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander spoke to reporters about the OKC Thunder’s strong start to the season. Instead of some big changes, Shai pointed to consistency with the squad as a key factor in their success
Shai believes that the Thunder have had a year to play together, learn each other’s styles, and get better, which is why he thinks they are a better team now than they were a year ago.
“It feels like we’re a better team. It feels like we’ve had a year to get better. Personnel in the room haven’t really changed much. We’ve added a few rookies.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander talks the difference between this team starting 7-0 vs last year’s team that also started 7-0.

“It feels like we’re a better team. Like it feels like we’ve had a year to get better.”

“But since the start of last year, we’ve had a year to get better, play together, learn each other on and off the court. It feels like we’ve had a head start this season.
“Obviously, we’re dealing with some injuries to start the year. But because we’ve gotten better 1-15, the guys in the locker room are able to plug and play and figure it out on the fly and still get results.
“We’re definitely a better team than we were a year ago.”
While going 7-0 to start the season is definitely great, the OKC Thunder cannot afford to grow complacent as the season goes on.
The Thunder are missing Jalen Williams right now, who is currently dealing with an injury and will return later in the season.
In his absence, Shai has improved as a playmaker, making sure the rest of the side gets involved and takes on the scoring load Williams normally does.
While this is great to see, what the Thunder need to do is make sure this strong start doesn’t dissipate as the season rolls on, as it could cost them dearly.
