The remarkable depth of the Oklahoma City Thunder is one of the main reason that most have pegged them as the NBA Title favorites with the 2024-25 NBA regular season approaching its end. It is often easy for some of the guys to get lost in the shuffle of this talented group. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wanted to make sure one key player got his due.

The Thunder had another commanding win on Wednesday night, knocking off the Memphis Grizzlies 120-103. Gilgeous-Alexander devoted a lengthy answer to an underrated teammate at the postgame media availability after the game was over.

The Thunder superstar delivered a big statement on Jaylin Williams to Nick Gallo that the reporter described as 'heartfelt.'

"We have so many guys that come in whenever their number is called. To highlight one who was really special tonight, like Jaylen Williams. Chet comes back, he’s playing good ball. He naturally has a lesser role. He understands it.

His attitude doesn't change, his effort, doesn't change. Who he is, doesn't change for the team. Some nights he plays, some nights he doesn't play… To have like, a masterpiece of a game like he did tonight was so big.

Guys in my position will never understand how hard that is to not have security… To not have that and still be steady as rock is special, and we're lucky to have a guy like that. He was who we was tonight, and it's the reason why we've been a good team all year."

Williams finished the game against the Grizzlies with 13 points, four rebounds, and two blocks, filling in for the injured Chet Holmgren in the big man rotation.

The Thunder's big, to Shai's point, has been steady when called upon all season. The third-year pro has averaged 5.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.6 blocks per game in 33 appearances for Oklahoma City. Whenever there has been a need for his services, Williams has answered the call.
