Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has had a perfect year with the OKC Thunder after completing it by winning the first-ever championship for the franchise.

He entered a pretty exclusive list of NBA players to win the MVP, Finals MVP and championship trophy in the same year by leading his team to a win in Game 7 against the Indiana Pacers.

The 27-year-old was consistent throughout the season and carried the same momentum into the playoffs to lead the way from the front.

In the Finals as well, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had multiple big games including dropping 15 points in the fourth quarter of Game 4 to help the OKC Thunder take a 3-2 lead.

His performance helped him earn praise from everyone around the NBA community.

Even weeks after the championship win, the Canadian’s performances have been talked about, but this time it was one of his teammates who lauded him.

Alex Caruso reveals Shai’s game reminds him of James Harden and Kyrie Irving

Shai won his MVP trophy amid a strong competition from Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic.

He averaged 32-5-6 splits for the season and shot the ball at an efficient 51.9% from the field.

The Canadian was consistent and that helped his side dominate the Western Conference, claiming the first seed with 68 wins.

Alex Caruso was also an integral part of the team as he was specifically recruited to add a veteran presence and defensive solidity to the roster.

He stated that not having to guard Shai was one of the best things about being in OKC.

The two-time champion also revealed that the point-guard’s game reminded him of the MVP version of James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

Speaking about the Finals MVP on ‘Dan Patrick Show,’ he said: “He’s a pretty unique guy.

“I think some of how James Harden was in his MVP years, you know he’s obviously not shooting threes like James and I think a lot of that helped him kind of get downhill to just get by people and then the length he has to finish and shoot in the mid-range a little bit like James in his MVP years.

“Even then he works off the body like Kyrie really well too, he has a little bit of like mid range Kyrie package and then finishing left right. That reminds me a lot of those two guys.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most skilled players

The Thunder guard has worked on his game over the years to become one of the best players in the league.

After helping the team win their first-ever championship, Gilgeous-Alexander was given a four-year $285 million contract, which led to a lot of chatter among NBA fans.

However, it was well-deserved as he is one of the most consistent players and plays on both ends of the floor for the team.

In his MVP season, Gilgeous-Alexander attempted 21.8 shots per game and made it an efficient 51.9% shooting, which is incredible.

Shai, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum and Cade Cunningham were the players who attempted more than 20 shots per game in the 2024-25 regular season.

Among all of the names, it was only Gilgeous-Alexander who shot over 50% from the field last season, which is an indication of how good he was.

The Thunder have locked their core by giving max contracts to SGA, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, a move that is widely appreciated around the league.

While Shai plays his natural game, the others on their roster can also step up on a nightly basis and drop a 20-point performance, making the Thunder one of the toughest sides to beat in the coming years.
