Shams Charania Reveals Bold Message From Doc Rivers to Milwaukee Bucks in Team Meeting

The Milwaukee Bucks had a very trying 2025-2026 season. Their upper management tried to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with enough talent, but ultimately failed. On most nights, coach Doc Rivers had to work his magic just to keep the team competitive.

And due to their failed campaign, there’s a growing narrative that Giannis might be gone in the offseason. The team might enter a full rebuild if that scenario materializes. However, it’s not just the two-time league MVP that has created an uncomfortable scene in Milwaukee. Add Doc Rivers to the mix, especially after his not-so-well-received speech to his players.

“Look at my resume and Google me. I took teams to the playoffs and the championship that weren’t supposed to be there. I thought this was one of them,” Shams Charania relayed what Doc Rivers said inside the Bucks locker room.

“That was not well-received internally. And that was another example of the disconnect between players and coach,” he added.

Doc Rivers’ career coaching resume is a bit all over the place. Sure, he led the Boston Celtics to a title in 2008, but for most people, that team should’ve won more than one. But most of his bad reputation comes from blowing 3-1 series leads in the playoffs. That has happened three separate times – the most in NBA history.

The internet is an unforgiving place, and most fans remember his playoff choke job rather than his career accomplishments.

Doc Rivers Is Growing Tired About Questions Regarding Giannis

Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to suit up again this season, despite the Bucks already being out of the play-in race. Reports have surfaced that he wants the chance to play alongside his two brothers, Alex and Thanasis. But for Doc Rivers, he’s tired of the back-and-forth about his superstar’s situation.

“This is a grown man’s game, and it should be handled that way by everybody. I don’t like when it’s he said, she said stuff. It’s not good. Just from that seat, the fact that I have to sit up here and keep addressing it, it bothers me, and we need to do something about it,” Rivers said when asked about Giannis playing again this season.

If Giannis is traded, will Doc Rivers stay as Milwaukee’s coach? It’s certainly going to be a troublesome summer for the Bucks.
