Shannon Sharpe rips Kevin Durant's reaction to Steve Nash's exit

Shannon Sharpe isn't cutting Kevin Durant any slack when it comes to the firing of Steve Nash.

The outspoken analyst went on "Undisputed" with co-host Skip Bayless on Wednesday to discuss the Brooklyn Nets parting ways with the long-time coach and didn't shy away from targeting Durant and his comments about  being "shocked" at the firing.

"KD doesn't seem upset at all!" Sharpe exclaimed. "If somebody told me they lost their job and I don't even know that person, I'd feel bad. KD didn't even seem [like he feels] bad. Like 'oh, things happen like that all the time in the NBA.' Really? That happened on your watch!"

Sharpe went on to slam Durant for not being the leader he should be and putting blame on other players. He even turned back the clock to criticize Durant for not checking teammate Kyrie Irving when the polarizing point guard said back in 2020 that the Nets " didn't need" a head coach.

"[When] you're the best player, sometimes that requires you to check a teammate, to say 'this is not the way to do it,'" Sharpe said of the relationship between Durant and Irving. "'Man, I can't tell Kyrie, a grown man -- it's not my job to do this.' But as a leader, it is. And that's why [Durant] hasn't had success [in Brooklyn]."

Nash ended his tumultuous tenure in Brooklyn with a 94-67 record. The Nets made the playoffs in each of his two full years as head coach but only won one series.

Brooklyn is already reportedly moving to finalize a coaching deal with suspended Boston Celtics boss Ime Udoka. Udoka led the Celtics to the NBA Finals in 2022 and was suspended ahead of the 2022-23 season after allegations surfaced he'd had an affair with a staff member.
