Shaquille O’Neal Calls Out NBA Owner for Complaining About Him
Ricardo Brazziell / USA TODAY NETWORK

The NBA is still in its offseason, with the regular season set to begin in about a month. That hasn’t stopped plenty of discussion from happening around the league.

On the latest episode of the "Road Trippin’" podcast with Kendrick Perkins, Mark Cuban joined as a guest. The former principal owner and current minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks had plenty to share.

Cuban didn’t hold back, giving his thoughts on current NBA star Anthony Edwards and even weighing in on former NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

His comments sparked strong reactions, particularly from the former All-Star center, who wasted no time firing back.

Cuban came right out from the beginning:

"I got this one for you. I am going to create controversy for you right here, right now."

Cuban continued"

"Watch Anthony Edwards when he takes a free throw shot. Every single time he steps over the line.

He went forward with the story, adding in the former All-Star center:

"Back in the day, I used to send in tapes on Shaq, we sent in Shaq, and he started calling it. He had to fix his free throws," Cuban mentioned. "This is the easiest call for a referee, just watch, see if he steps over the line."

Shaq quickly commented on it:

"Didn't work in the 2006 finals, did it?"

O'Neal is referring to the 2006 NBA finals, when the Miami Heat took down Cuban and his Dallas Mavericks. It was the last of the four NBA titles for Shaq during his career. The Heat beat Dirk Nowitzki and Dallas in six games that season. O'Neal scored 13.7 points and averaged 10.2 rebounds in that series.

What Cuban is referring to is that Edwards' free throw is illegal every time he does it. He claims O'Neal did the same thing when he went to the line back in the day. While Cuban sold his majority stake of the franchise, he is still heavily interested and involved with the Mavericks.
