Shaquille O'Neal Shuts Down Argument Claiming He’s The 5th Best Center Of All Time: 'I'm The Most Dominant Center Ever...'
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Shaquille O'Neal is widely regarded as one of the greatest centers who ever lived, but not everyone agrees on where he stacks up against the greatest legends in basketball history. Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, for example, recently shocked the NBA community when he ranked O'Neal as the fifth-best center in history, behind guys like Hakeem Olajuwon and Moses Malone. In response to the ranking, O'Neal shut down any argument that had him lower than third among centers.

“Who the f*ck is that?…I’m the most dominant center ever," said Shaq. "I don’t ever wanna hear another name again… so that would put me at No. 3. I passed Hakeem Olajuwon. The king beat me but I came back and beat him. Moses Malone, I passed him up four, five, six years before I retired. So, me, I would put myself at number three."

Shaq was far from a perfect player and he had his flaws both on and off the court. But after a decorated 19-year career, O'Neal's legacy as the most dominant player ever is hard to deny and there are very few players who even come close to matching his legacy.

Shaq Was The Embodiment Of Dominance

Drafted first overall in 1992, Shaquille O'Neal was a beast from the very beginning. Starting from his debut, Shaq would go on to make the next 14 All-Star teams before his decline in 2007. For his career, which spanned 19 years, O'Neal averaged 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game on 66% shooting. By the time he retired in 2011, O'Neal was a basketball legend as a 15x All-Star, 4x champion, and 3x Finals MVP.

Compared to others in his position, nobody had a better peak than O'Neal but there are still debates on if he reached his ultimate potential as a player. During his career, Shaq was often called out for being out of shape and overweight and many believe that it got in the way of more success. But whether you love him or hate him, Shaq's achievements speak for themselves and there's nobody more deserving of being included with the greatest centers of All-Time.

Is Shaq The Greatest Laker Ever?

When it comes to the Lakers franchise, no other team in the league has had as many stars. From Wilt to Magic to Kobe, the Lakers never go long without a franchise face and O'Neal was that guy for them during one of their greatest stretches. Ultimately, while Shaq would leave the Lakers after eight seasons, he left a lasting legacy there for his explosive play, unstoppable game, and box-office personality.

According to O'Neal himself, he ranks as the fourth greatest Laker ever, behind Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Shaq's playing days have long expired already but it's clear that Lakers Nation still holds him in very high regard for what he accomplished with the franchise. Just based on his time there alone, he's got to rank in the top three greatest centers ever and he will not stand for anything less.

Harsh Reality on Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga's NBA Contract Dilemma

In his first season with the Chicago Bulls, Josh Giddey proved that he could be an all-around star at 22 years old. The point guard impressed after being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists. Giddey helped the Bulls make the Play-In Tournament, and while the final result was somewhat expected, their 39-43 record was better than people anticipated. On top of that, Giddey had some highlight games, from nearly recording a quadruple-double to hitting a buzzer beater from half court against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. By the end of the season, there was belieft that the point guard's new deal could be big. Giddey entered the summer as a restricted free agent, but remains unsigned as training camp sits around the corner. The Bulls have been offering less money than what he wants, but this has been the case with other situations like Cam Thomas and the Brooklyn Nets, as well as Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors. NBA insider Marc Stein gave the harsh reality of these contract disputes regarding restricted free agents. Most teams don't have the money to offer any of these players, so there isn't any pressure on organizations, including the Bulls, to sign them. "Since there are no cap-space teams in circulation to emerge with an offer sheet to Thomas or fellow restricted free agents like Golden State's Jonathan Kuminga and Chicago's Josh Giddey, Brooklyn appears to be in no rush to expedite discussions with Thomas' representation," Stein wrote. The Bulls can match any offer Giddey receives or allocate him in a sign-and-trade if they want to move him. Chicago can also bring him back on the $11.1 million qualifying offer if a deal isn't reached.

Oilers to Acquire a Top-Tier Goalie. An Official Trade Offer Is on the Table in a Blockbuster Deal

The Boston Bruins have been under pressure to retool after a disappointing season, and now a potential blockbuster move could shake the entire NHL. A major trade proposal has surfaced that could send a star goaltender to the Edmonton Oilers, a move that would give them the elite presence they've lacked in net while forcing Boston closer to a rebuild. The deal being floated by multiple outlets would send Edmonton's current starter, Stuart Skinner, along with Matthew Savoie, Beau Akey, and a 2028 first-round pick to Boston, while the Oilers land a goaltender capable of changing their Cup window overnight. Edmonton's push for a franchise goalie could reshape the Western Conference and challenge the Dallas Stars' path to the Cup If this trade goes through, the Oilers would instantly address one of their biggest weaknesses, setting up a showdown with teams like the Dallas Stars, who already see Edmonton as one of their toughest rivals. Boston, on the other hand, would fully commit to a rebuild, pairing Joonas Korpisalo with Skinner in what could be one of the NHL's weakest tandems, likely boosting their draft lottery odds in one of the most hyped draft classes in recent memory (NHL.com). An insider noted, "They weren't the only ones who had inquired about Swayman, but yes, I was told they poked around." That comment shows just how wide the interest is for this level of goalie talent (Heavy.com). I think this kind of trade would completely shift the balance of power in the West, making Edmonton even more dangerous for teams like Dallas, who could end up facing a vastly upgraded Oilers team in the playoffs. If Boston truly embraces a rebuild, moving their top goaltender could be the first domino in a massive roster overhaul, something that could shake the market for weeks.

Angel Reese Appears to Fire Back at WNBA Legend With Mysterious Tweet

Love her, or hate her, Angel Reese is a WNBA superstar. She continues to fill stat-sheets while simultaneously landing in headlines seemingly on a daily basis. Reese's sophomore WNBA season started as a "rivalry" with Indiana Fever superstar, Caitlin Clark. The narrative surrounding Reese, however, has slowly taken a turn, with many seemingly taking shots at Reese. First, it was famed rapper, Ice Cube, founder of BIG3, who offered an unprompted quote about not having as much money for Reese to play for his league as they had for Clark last year ($5 million). And now, on Tuesday, WNBA legend, television personality, and soon to be podcast host, Candace Parker, filled her mouth with Reese's name. “Speaking about Angel (Reese) must be the only way to be heard on a Podcast or to stay relevant?” Parker said. Reese, who's fresh off extending her double-double streak to 11 games, appeared to fire back at Parker, putting out a mysterious tweet on Tuesday night. "clout is one helluva DRUG. like it really gets to a point." Reese posted on her official X account. Reese appears to be responding, in her own unique way, to Parker's comments. Parker's comments were pulled from her new podcast, "Post Moves". The new podcast is set to debut on Wednesday. It's a new podcast Parker is set to co-host with Fever All-Star center, Aliyah Boston. Less than hour after posting her tweet on X, Reese's message had over 500 comments. "Y’all need to put some respect on Candace Parker’s name. She just tells it like it is." one user posted. "Yeah Candace is getting weird. Stop showing her love it’s not reciprocated." another user posted. "Anything for views and likes," another user said. "If there was a get your money up without mentioning Angel Reese challenge, they’d lose," another fan posted. With Parker and Boston's first episode of "Post Moves" set to officially launch on Wednesday, time will tell how it is received given this ongoing back-and-forth between Reese and Parker. Reese, as usual, appears ready to defend herself on and off the court.

Unlikely Tigers OF has historic game as team's offensive outburst continues

The Detroit Tigers have been unstoppable at the plate lately, and Tuesday night was no different. The Tigers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 12-2, giving them 27 runs in the last three games. A big contributor to their offense on Tuesday was outfielder Wenceel Perez, who joined Sam Crawford (1912), Ossie Vitt (1915) and Ty Cobb (1924, 1916, 1915) as the only four players in franchise history to have a single, double, triple and two stolen bases in the same game. Perez began his historic night with a double off Diamondbacks starter Brandon Pfaadt in the second inning before adding a single in the fourth. A monster fifth inning put the Tigers ahead 8-2 after an early 2-0 deficit, which set the stage for a three-run sixth inning that included this triple from Perez off Arizona's Jake Woodford to give Detroit a 10-2 lead. Perez scored two more runs, one in the sixth and the other in eighth, to give the Tigers their final two runs in a 12-run outburst. Overall, Perez had three hits in five at-bats, scored four runs and added one RBI to go with his historic statline. Given his performance over the past month, it was surprising to see Perez show out against Arizona. After all, he did not have a single hit the last two games, and he only recorded more than one hit once in 20 games the entire month coming into Tuesday. The Tigers were once the hottest team in baseball when they held a 59-34 record on July 8. Since then, they suffered a slump that includes a six-game losing streak. Suddenly, Detroit has won its last three and scored 10 or more runs in two of those victories. As good as the offense has been, the pitching has been solid as well with the Tigers outscoring their opponents 27-7 during the three-game stretch. Yes, the last two wins have come against a struggling Diamondbacks team that sits fourth in the NL West with a 51-57 record. Still, they have taken care of business and won handily. The next step is getting healthy and having someone to pair with ace Tarik Skubal in the rotation. Right-hander Chris Paddack was added to the 26-man roster and is set to start Wednesday, while free agent signing Alex Cobb is beginning his rehab assignment. The Tigers will go for the sweep of the Diamondbacks on Wednesday before traveling to Philadelphia for a weekend series against the Phillies. It will be difficult to top Perez's historic outing from Tuesday, but if momentum is any indication, the Tigers may only be getting started, especially if the pitching depth is there.
