Tacko Fall will fill the Sixers’ open two-way contract slot, according to Shams Charania of ESPN, who reports ( via Twitter) that the team is converting Fall’s Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal. The 76ers have put out a press release formally announcing the move.

A 7’6″ center who made 37 regular season NBA appearances from 2019-22 for the Celtics and Cavaliers, Fall racked up 90 rebounds and 30 blocks in 228 total regular season minutes for Cleveland and Boston. Since being waived by the Cavs in 2022, the Senegalese big man has played for multiple teams in China and had a stint with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia’s National Basketball League.

Fall has been on the shelf during the preseason due to a strained hip, but he has made an impact on Philadelphia’s locker room, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic, who tweets that the 30-year-old looked good in camp before getting injured.

With Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert occupying the 76ers’ other two-way slots, there was an expectation that the team would fill its third opening with a center. Adem Bona has been sidelined this month by a foot sprain, while free agent addition Ariel Hukporti suffered a torn Achilles in his preseason debut and will miss the entire season, so frontcourt depth was a pressing need for Philadelphia.

The Sixers aren’t currently in position to carry a full 15-man roster without making a trade, so they figure to open the regular season with a 14-man squad, plus three two-way players. Fall will join Bona, Dominick Barlow, and Jabari Walker, among others, in providing depth at the five behind star center Joel Embiid.

Fall will be eligible to appear in a maximum of 50 regular season games while on his two-way contract and will earn a $678,882 salary.
