Sixers’ Joel Embiid Trying to Play Through Mutliple Injuries
Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

All-Stare center Joel Embiid returned to the 76ers after a brief illness, and how he is contending with some aches and pains.

For starters, Embiid tweaked his ankle in Saturday’s win over the Hawks, a game in which he scored 42 points.

“I plan on playing but I’m going to see how it reacts (Sunday),” Embiid said, via Rich Hoffman of The Athletic. “It’s pretty sore.”

Along with that, he has some nagging shoulder pain — as could be evidenced by the fact he kept clutching it during the game Saturday night.

“I don’t know what happened but some days I can’t lift my arm up,” Embiid said. “When I block shots, I really feel it. I don’t what’s going on.”

Embiid intends to play, as he indicated, in Sunday’s game vs. the Jazz. But it seems as if we will know more at tipoff. He is averaging 29.3 points and 10.0 rebounds, shooting 51 percent from the field, in nine appearances.
