Skip Bayless Argues NBA Title Comes Down to One Thing as Spurs Extend Win Streak

The San Antonio Spurs are no longer just an intriguing young team. They are forcing themselves into the championship conversation with all they have. And according to Skip Bayless, their surge has shifted the entire NBA title outlook.

San Antonio extended its winning streak to nine games Monday night with a 114-103 road victory over the Detroit Pistons, a team that has been one of the Eastern Conference’s most consistent performers this season.

The Spurs matched Detroit’s physicality and dictated the tone late, continuing a stretch that has vaulted them near the top of the Western Conference standings.

Victor Wembanyama anchored the effort with 21 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, and six blocks, reinforcing his case as one of the league’s most disruptive two-way forces. His defensive presence altered Detroit’s interior attack, while his rebounding helped San Antonio control the tempo in the second half.

Following the victory, Bayless took to social media to frame the larger picture. In his view, the championship race hinges on one variable, and that is the health of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“Spurs are ROLLING through the Association,” Skip Bayless wrote. “9 straight after bullying the bullies in Detroit. Now this year’s NBA title comes down to whether the Thunder get completely healthy… or not.”

The Thunder remain atop the Western Conference, but injuries to key contributors have created uncertainty as the postseason approaches.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have closed the gap, now sitting just a few games behind the top seed. What once appeared to be a developmental year has quickly become a legitimate push toward contention.

Skip Bayless Makes His Choice For NBA MVP

With less than 30 games remaining in the regular season, the NBA MVP race is tightening, and Skip Bayless has made his stance clear.

The longtime television analyst took to social media this week to declare that, as things stand, Jaylen Brown is his MVP.

“Right now, with a long way to go, Jalen Brown is the NBA MVP,” he wrote.

The timing, however, is notable. The Boston Celtics are sailing through a crucial stretch without Jayson Tatum, yet they remain near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. In that vacuum, Brown has assumed full control of the offense.

However, Skip Bayless’s choice holds weight. In his career-best territory, Brown is averaging 29.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game while functioning as Boston’s primary scoring and playmaking hub.
