Skip Bayless doesn’t seem to have a very good ratio with Luka Doncic. Back in December 2025, Bayless took a shot at the Los Angeles Lakers’ star for his ‘killer inefficiency.’ And that notion does not seem to have changed a lot in recent times. As the Lakers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 125-122, Bayless lashed out at Doncic involving Kris Dunn.
The 26-year-old recently dropped a confident remark about the Lakers’ second-half push. Coming back from injury, the Slovenian star dropped an impressive 38-point performance to guide the purple and gold to the victory. Unfortunately, Bayless was still not impressed.
Taking to his X account, Bayless claimed that the 6-time NBA All-Star could only talk big when the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Bennedict Mathurin, and more are not present. He also praised Dunn for his elite defense that made the Lakers’ star work hard in the second half.
“Luka can really talk-talk-talk to Kris Dunn when there’s no Kawhi, no Mathurin, no Garland, Dunn did a great clean no-talk job of making Luka work for every point in the 2nd half,” Bayless wrote.

Surely, this was not a pleasant statement for the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year to be hearing. Especially when Mark Cuban recently pointed out his ‘mistake’ of letting Doncic get traded. Meanwhile, Bayless had targeted Doncic before as well.
The Lakers’ star is making a strong case for this year’s MVP run. With averages of 33 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists, the 26-year-old is looking impressive. But not for Bayless. Back in January, when the Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 128-121, both Doncic and LeBron James chipped in with 34 and 31 points each.
Lashing out at Doncic, Bayless said, “Lakers survive sub-.500 Memphis thanks mostly to LeBron’s 12 of 18, winning in spite of Luka’s 1-7 from 3 (31% for yr on NBA’s 2nd most attempts) and increasing his league-leading turnovers with 6 more. Yet fans chant MVP???”

Well, critics have given Doncic a lot of flak during his injury-plagued season. Given the champion that he is, it is now up to him to turn things around and show the NBA realm his true potential.
