In a pivotal Game 4 between the Thunder and Nuggets, Oklahoma City ground out a fourth-quarter comeback to tie the series heading back home.
The first half was a primarily defensive-minded one, with the Nuggets scoring just eight first-quarter points, but OKC unable to capitalize. Offense became more comfortable in the second half, with the Thunder eventually finding a better rhythm later.
The Nuggets took a 2-1 advantage heading into Sunday’s game by stealing Game 1 in Oklahoma City, and outlasting the Thunder in overtime of Game 3.
Here’s how X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the defensive battle between the two teams on Sunday:
Nuggets have started 0-for-5 from the field — a few good shots.
— Derek Parker (@DParkOK) May 11, 2025
Despite that, just a 3-0 lead for OKC.
Nuggets fans have been standing up for a while, as Denver has yet to score its first points three minutes into the first quarter. Thunder ahead 3-0
— Josue Pavón (@Joe_Sway) May 11, 2025
Dub is locked in defensively
— Andrew Schlecht (@AndrewKSchlecht) May 11, 2025
Lu Dort hasn’t hit a 3 on the road since March 25.
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) May 11, 2025
0 for 15 on the road from deep in these playoffs.
What is this lineup
— TF (@ThunderFocus) May 11, 2025
The Nuggets have more airballs right now (3) than made field goals (2).
— Michael Martin (@MichaelOnSports) May 11, 2025
The Thunder are shooting 10% from three so far.
— Daily Thunder (@dailythunder) May 11, 2025
And that's 10% higher than Denver.
Denver Nuggets score just 8 points in the first quarter,
— Derek Parker (@DParkOK) May 11, 2025
Despite that, the Thunder have just a 9-point lead.
What a disgusting quarter of basketball. I’ll take three more.
— Eddie Radosevich (@Eddie_Rado) May 11, 2025
Elite brick off
— Sean Davis (@Sean_Davi) May 11, 2025
OKC and Denver combined to shoot 8-of-44 in the 1st
— Esfandiar Baraheni (@JustEsBaraheni) May 11, 2025
Their 25 points combined was the lowest total in a 1st quarter in playoff history.
The Nuggets have played 18 minutes of basketball in Game 4 and have made just *FOUR* shots so far.
— Tomer Azarly (@TomerAzarly) May 11, 2025
Christian Braun is Denver's leading scorer with 9 points on 1 made basket.
— Daily Thunder (@dailythunder) May 11, 2025
Yeah it's that kind of game.
Nikola Jokic has now missed 13 consecutive threes since Game 2

Cason Wallace pic.twitter.com/97FgJeTUhn
— Tyler Neal (@T_Neal) May 11, 2025
The score at the half is WHAT????
— Dom2K (@Dom_2k) May 11, 2025
Thunder and Nuggets are really testing everyone’s love for the game of basketball
— Andrew Schlecht (@AndrewKSchlecht) May 11, 2025
You could make the case for Alex Caruso being the Thunder’s most important and impactful player in the playoffs thus far.
— Nick Crain (@CrainNBA) May 11, 2025
i feel like the nuggets were happy to punt this one early if the thunder could've put them out of their misery but now they've realized they can steal another and okc's in for a fight
— Robby Kalland (@RKalland) May 11, 2025
Denver’s first lead, of course, comes from an Aaron Gordon 3, which he had time to settle into. Nuggets 3/4 from deep to start the second half and outscoring OKC 17-10.
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) May 11, 2025
there is nothing i have ever been more certain of than aaron gordon hitting that shot
— Shea Serrano (@SheaSerrano) May 11, 2025
Thunder HAVE to add some movement to their offense if they want to win. Just standing around is making things easy for the Nuggets
— The Daniel Bell© (@BasketballGuruD) May 11, 2025
OKC had a lot of opportunities to gain some distance in this game but just has been so bogged down offensively that they’ve allowed Denver to warm up a little bit. Shots finally falling for the Nuggets.
— Esfandiar Baraheni (@JustEsBaraheni) May 11, 2025
Denver wants it more. Embarrassing stuff from OKC this series.
— Preston Poole (@prestonpoole405) May 11, 2025
OKC is melting.
— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) May 11, 2025
Yeah, you have to make shots to punish the zone from Denver.
— THE UNCONTESTED PODCAST (@The_Uncontested) May 11, 2025
But more than that, you have to MOVE. Try to get them out of position. Force bad rotations.
OKC just standing around right now.
Russell Westbrook is such a dog, man. Just an instant shot of energy. Clamped SGA up on a possession and celebrated towards the crowd.
— Rachel Strand (@MileHighRachel) May 11, 2025
Just don’t even recognize this Thunder team.
— Matt Burton (@IAmMattBurton) May 11, 2025
Thunder are 12 minutes away from losing back-to-back road games for only the 2nd time all season, and 3 out of 4 games overall for the 1st time.
— Justin Russo (@FlyByKnite) May 11, 2025
Obviously the most pivotal stretch of Thunder basketball in some time,
— Derek Parker (@DParkOK) May 11, 2025
Looking to fend off the Nuggets going up 3-1 in the next 12 minutes.
Massive stretch there to cut the Nuggets lead to 1 in the non Jokic or Shai minutes.
— Michael Martin (@MichaelOnSports) May 11, 2025
Two big 3s made from Aaron Wiggins and Cason Wallace.
by golly is that THE aaron wiggins? making big plays? cutting into the deficit?
— Nekias (Nuh-KY-us) Duncan (@NekiasNBA) May 11, 2025
some might say ... saving ...
Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins with 22 combined points off the bench.
— Addam M. Francisco (@SuaveCEO_) May 11, 2025
Absolutely https://t.co/PTRRgP0Inz
— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) May 11, 2025
Shai with a BIG time runner.
— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) May 11, 2025
Nikola Jokic wanted a foul on that last made basket. Tony Brothers told him to get back on defense lol
— Josue Pavón (@Joe_Sway) May 11, 2025
Second straight game where Chet's had a weak layup attempt blocked late in the game.
— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) May 11, 2025
Close. This. Out.
— Derek Hatridge (@DerekHatco10) May 11, 2025
This is an ultimate proximate foul call on the line
— Andrew Schlecht (@AndrewKSchlecht) May 11, 2025
Dub's second FG of the game pushes OKC's lead to six with just three minutes left,
— Derek Parker (@DParkOK) May 11, 2025
Massive, aggressive bucket from Jalen Williams.
Jokic misses two big free-throws....OKC gets a bucket......huge, huge swing.....should have been 2...now it's 6
— Tony Jones (@Tjonesonthenba) May 11, 2025
That’s the best shot you could get SGA?
— J.D. Silva (@jdsilva_) May 11, 2025
Four straight possessions with chances to make this more than a two-possession game for the Thunder. No good on any of them for SGA.
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) May 11, 2025
Thunder ahead 88-83 with 28.1 to play and Denver ball. https://t.co/XDHvlKjBBN
Somehow, Nugget fans are leaving?
— Bobby Howard (@BobbyHowardOK) May 11, 2025
Fans trickling to exits, Thunder are going to get out of here with a 2-2 split which was the goal. They'll have homecourt back.
— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) May 11, 2025
My god, Jamal Murray just airballed. OKC calls timeout, but looks like a FT game for the Thunder the rest of the way to pull out Game 4.
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) May 11, 2025
Not tweeting a thing until that buzzer sounds, the way this series has gone.
— Derek Parker (@DParkOK) May 11, 2025
