The Spurs have formally exercised their fourth-year option on Stephon Castle and third-year options on Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant, the team announced today (Twitter link via Jared Weiss of The Athletic).
As Weiss notes, it was a foregone conclusion that San Antonio would pick up the options.
Each of the three players was already under contract for this season. The moves mean each player will now earn a guaranteed salary for 2027/28 — Castle’s contract comes in at about $12.7MM, while Harper will make $13.6MM and Bryant will earn $5.4MM.
Castle, the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft, won the Rookie of the Year award in 2024/25 and followed that up with a second season in which he improved his numbers in virtually every major statistical category. The dynamic 6’6″ guard will now be eligible for a rookie scale extension next offseason; a potential new deal would begin two seasons from now, in 2028/29.
Harper was selected second overall in last year’s draft and earned a spot on the All-Rookie first team. The 20-year-old guard was even better during the 2026 playoffs, and will open his second season in the starting five alongside Castle, De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell and Victor Wembanyama.
Bryant, a high-flying forward, was the final lottery pick (14th) in 2025. While he didn’t play a ton as a rookie, averaging just 11.5 minutes per night in 71 regular season appearances off the bench, the club is expecting him to take a step forward in his second season.
