The San Antonio Spurs are in a rebuild year and they are evaluating which players can be part of their long-term solution next to Victor Wembanyama.
However, the team is lacking a true point guard and hasn't exhausted all the current resources it has at the position.
"They have yet to lean noticeably more on Tre Jones or basically admit Devonte' Graham exists," Bleacher Report writes. "San Antonio likely doesn't view either as the long-term solution. It may prefer not to poke around veteran rentals such as Tyus Jones. That's all justifiable. It doesn't excuse a failure to look beyond the temporary or wildly experimental."
After the Jeremy Sochan experiment at point guard came and went, the Spurs have yet to identify a true solution. Perhaps they find a player who can run the offense at the trade deadline or they address the issue in free agency or the draft this summer, but in 2024, San Antonio must find a floor general otherwise it will be another year gone down the drain.
The Spurs play their first game in the 2024 calendar year tomorrow against the Memphis Grizzlies. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT from FedEx Forum.
