The San Antonio Spurs have enjoyed an active offseason as they look to make the playoffs for the first in All-Star center Victor Wembanyama's career.
San Antonio inked free agent former third-string Boston Celtics center Luke Kornet to a three-season, $41 million deal to serve as Wembanyama's (likely) primary backup, and subsequently traded to acquire floor-spacing former power forward/center Kelly Olynyk from the Washington Wizards.
The Spurs also selected a whopping two players in the lottery of the 2025 NBA draft, using the No. 2 pick on former Rutgers University Scarlet Knights combo guard Dylan Harper and the No. 14 pick on former Arizona University Wildcats small forward Carter Bryant.
Harper will now compete for minutes in a talented backcourt, alongside incumbent All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox and Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, while Bryant will look for minutes on the perimeter next to wings Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and veteran Harrison Barnes.
Now, the Spurs are inking an All-Summer League First Team guard to a fresh deal as they look to bolster their young depth.
Gersh Sports agents Deirunas Visockas and Guillermo Bermejo tell ESPN's Shams Charania that San Antonio is signing guard David Jones-Garcia to a two-way contract.

Across eight Summer League contests with San Antonio this month, the 6-foot-6 rookie averaged 22 points on .521/.510/.875 shooting splits, along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals a night.
Jones-Garcia was so impressive that he drew a three-year contract from Greek club Olympiakos. The young swingman decided to reject the offer to focus on his NBA career, and he also relayed that to any other European team that might have interest in signing him.

Jones-Garcia was undrafted after wrapping up his NCAA career at the University of Memphis in 2024. He inked two-way deals with the Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz, but never appeared in an NBA game that season. Instead, he emerged as a G League standout, and came in second in G League Rookie of the Year voting for 2024-25.
