Spurs signing David Duke Jr to two-way deal; waiving Sir’Jabari Rice

The San Antonio Spurs intend to sign guard David Duke Jr. to a two-way contract, agent Todd Ramasar told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Spurs will waive two-way point guard Sir’Jabari Rice to create a roster spot for Duke, added Andrew Lopez of ESPN.

Duke, 24, is 6-foot-4 and plays both backcourt positions. He has been playing for the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League in the early season.

Duke spent the first two years of his career with the Brooklyn Nets and has appeared in 45 NBA games overall, averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.

He signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in September, only to be waived before the start of the season. The Blue Coats are the Sixers’ G League affiliate.

With Delaware, Duke is averaging 23.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 23 games. He will now be sent to the Austin Spurs for his G League stints.

Rice, 24, is 6-4 and has not yet appeared in an NBA game. He very well could remain with Austin, just not on a two-way deal.
