The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are looking to fill vacant head coaching positions, but one former NBA head coach doesn't sound too interested in either job.
Stan Van Gundy, who has not coached in the NBA since being canned by the Detroit Pistons in 2018, said one of the two open positions is far better than the other.
“Of the two the Nets are the better job,” Van Gundy said on ESPN Radio, according to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov. “There’s no question about that right now. The organization has been more stable. They’ve won more games. They have more talent.”
Kenny Atkinson was fired by the Nets recently, and David Fizdale was dumped by the Knicks in December.
While Van Gundy made it sound like the Nets position would be more appealing to him, he bashed the Knicks organization, making it known that he has no interest in the open position.
Stan Van Gundy asked on ESPN Radio if he'd take Knicks coaching job if offered. Answers talking about Jeff Van Gundy: "No...There's a family history there. If anyone would be interested in that — and I'm not sure he is either — it would be my brother." https://t.co/RIkALh0Dne pic.twitter.com/rx2npTu6p5

He's not necessarily wrong about the Knicks either. They haven't made the playoffs since 2012-13 and have only made it to the postseason three times in the last 15 seasons.
With talented players like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant with the Nets, it's no surprise that Van Gundy would be more willing to take that job.
