Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors kept their season alive on Wednesday.
The 10th-seeded Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 126-121 at Intuit Dome in the NBA play-in tournament.
Curry led the charge with 35 points on 12-of-23 shooting from the field and 7-of-12 from downtown. He also added four assists in 36 minutes.
The performance stood as a remarkable testament to the 38-year-old's resolve. Knee issues hampered him throughout the 2025-26 campaign, limiting him to just 43 regular-season games.
Golden State now faces a must-win clash against the eighth-seeded Phoenix Suns. The victor of Friday’s game claims the final playoff spot in the West.
Curry has nothing left to prove at this stage of his career. The 17-year veteran is a first-ballot Hall of Famer when his playing days are done.
Nobody would have faulted him for shutting it down after a season ravaged by recurring knee problems.
Golden State also absorbed serious blows elsewhere. Season-ending injuries to Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody stripped the team of key contributors.
Yet Curry decided to fight. He returned for the final stretch of the regular season and the play-in, knowing his team needed him.
"We talk about it all the time," Curry said after beating the Clippers, per Sam Gordon on X. "If we have any type of chance or hopes of extending our season, I wanna be out there to experience it."
"You don't imagine it going like it did tonight but just proud of how we all fought," he added. "That was fun. That's what you live for."
Golden State trailed by 13 points with under 10 minutes remaining. Curry re-entered and took over. He scored 11 of his game-high 35 points down the stretch, willing the Warriors back from the brink.
Curry did not do it alone. Fellow four-time champion Draymond Greendelivered two critical defensive stops to seal the victory.
The Warriors need another statement performance from Curry on Friday, where a potential playoff berth awaits.
