Steph Curry reacts to Warriors' reported trade call on LeBron James

The basketball world is still coming to terms with the bombshell report that Warriors owner Joe Lacob called Lakers owner Jeanie Buss with the intention to trade for LeBron James. Had the trade gone through, it would have created an iconic duo – of James and Stephen Curry – the likes of which the league hasn't seen since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal or Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Following Golden State's 130-125 loss to the Clippers Wednesday night, Curry was asked if the report took him by surprise.

"No, never surprised," Curry said, via NBC Sports. "It's always a surprise when stuff like that gets out because I'm assuming that every team is making calls that if every fanbase or media group would know about it, it would normalize the conversations that happen in the front office, especially around the trade deadline when you're exploring around the league who's available and who's not."

Curry admitted that his team's front office was justified in doing their due diligence, and to check on James' availability ahead of the Feb.8 trade deadline.

"Obviously, a guy like Bron, you would probably call just to see," Curry said. "I don't know what the depths of the conversations were, but it was a nice little surprise this morning for sure."

Since the story dropped, several theories have been floated regarding James' reasoning to turn down the trade. Some have even suggested that the Warriors are expected to resume their pursuit of James in the offseason. James would become a free agent if he doesn't exercise his player option before June 29.
