The Golden State Warriors received some tough news on Wednesday when it was revealed that star guard Steph Curry would have his strained hamstring re-evaluated in a week. The ailment puts Curry out for at least the next three games of his team’s playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and perhaps even longer, according to the player himself.

Steph Curry Has No Timetable For A Return

He was able to play just thirteen minutes in Game 1. After suffering the injury during the second quarter, Curry did not return to the court, and his status for future games was immediately in question. The Warriors wound up winning the game thanks to some serious offensive struggles by Minnesota, but there was more concern for their star than there was joy about stealing home court advantage.

While the strain certainly could have been worse, it comes at a very tough time for Golden State. Their recent schedule has been a grueling one, having played every other day dating back to April 26th, and the veterans on their team appear to be in desperate need of some time to heal their older bodies. Instead of getting a breather, the rest of the players on the Warriors roster will have to up their intensity in order to try and fill the shoes of Curry’s production.

Steph Curry is not living by the one-week time frame. His first comments since the injury came during Thursday’s shoot around in Minneapolis, and the player himself said that there is no real timetable for his return.

“This is new. From all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. That’s just the way the body works. You can’t accelerate it.”

Curry would go on to say that hamstring injuries can even fool you into thinking that you’re healthy enough to play.

The Warriors are up 1-0 in the series, but things are predicted to change rather quickly. For Game 2 on Thursday night, it is the Timberwolves who will enter the game as heavy favorites, currently listed with at -10.5 points for the contest. As for the entire series, Minnesota is the favorite there, too. They have a designation of -220 to be the ones to advance to the Western Conference Finals, while the Warriors are listed at +180.

Steph Curry was averaging 22.6 points per game during the first 8 playoff matchups this season.
