The Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers are both eliminated from the Western Conference playoffs — thanks, Anthony Edwards — but the two California clubs were still the talk of the NBA on social media on Friday.
The Lakers were the biggest story of the 2024-2025 regular season after orchestrating the unforgettable trade to acquire Luka Doncic in February.
They finished as the No. 3 seed in the West with a 50-32 record, but Doncic and LeBron James ran out of steam against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
The Warriors — whose trade deadline deal for Jimmy Butler would have been the biggest transaction almost any other season — followed suit with a loss to the Timberwolves in the conference semifinals.
Stephen Curry, sidelined with a hamstring injury, could only watch from the bench for the final four games.
Right after Golden State was eliminated, a new video emerged on YouTube that shed light on what the Warriors really thought of the Lakers' big move.

Months after the fact, there remained something comforting for fans about watching the league's biggest stars react to the news in real time.
"how cool to see all these NBA players raw reactions," said one of the comments on YouTube.
"Steph yell is killing me," a fan replied.
Its like they're reacting in a horror movie where they find out about the evil thats before them and right before all the bad stuff happens

"They realizing no one safe," wrote one user.
It was a moment that will go down in history, but both teams are still searching for answers moving forward.
Los Angeles is looking for a big man to help James and Doncic after getting dominated inside by Rudy Gobert. Golden State has to reckon with the Jonathan Kuminga situation that got more complicated in Curry's absence.
Meanwhile, the arrow is pointing up for the Dallas Mavericks after being the butt of the joke all season for giving up Doncic. The Mavs won the NBA Draft Lottery, earning the chance to select projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg out of Duke to create another Western Conference power alongside Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.
Maybe we'll see Curry's reaction to that three months from now.
