The Indiana Fever suffered their second straight loss on Sunday. This came in the form of a 97-84 defeat at the hands of the league-best Minnesota Lynx. The loss marked Indiana’s sixth defeat in the last eight games.

Fever Fall to No. 8 Spot

Sunday’s loss wasn’t just any other defeat, either. From being sixth in the standings a few days ago, the Fever have now slipped to eighth in the WNBA with a 19-18 record.

It’s now the Seattle Storm who occupy the No. 6 spot at 20-18 after winning three straight games. The Golden State Valkyries, on the other hand, have climbed to seventh after back-to-back wins. They are tied with the Fever at 19-18, but it’s the Valkyries who own the tiebreaker against Indiana.

It is also important to note that the ninth-seeded Los Angeles Sparks are just one game behind the Fever for the eighth and final playoff spot. These two teams face off in L.A. at Crypto.com Arena on Friday in a matchup that will have significant playoff implications.

Stephanie White Rallies the Troops

Fever head coach Stephanie White isn’t panicking, though. Instead, the veteran shot-caller wants her team to remain calm and not to get too caught up in the playoff race.

"I think for us, we got to focus on one day at a time," White said after Sunday’s loss in Minnesota. "We got to control what we can control, and that's our next opponent, right? That's going to be Seattle coming into our place, which is a big one. It's a big one."

As White said, the Fever have a crucial matchup coming up on Tuesday when they host the Storm at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. With Seattle just 0.5 games ahead of Indiana, a win for the Fever on Tuesday will see them overtake the Storm in the standings.

"You can't get caught looking at that stuff," White said of the playoff race." We got to stay locked in on what we have to do and be where our feet are and take care of what's in front of us."

The last time the Fever faced off against the Storm, Indiana secured a 78-74 win in Seattle. They will want a repeat of that performance on Tuesday as the regular season enters the home stretch.
