As long as Stephen A. Smith has a platform, especially on air, he will beef with everybody, even people outside of sports. And what more when it comes to the NBA, his forte? Josh Hart knows a thing or two about that side from SAS, but still took the bait.
The New York Knicks do have some things they need sorted out as the season winds down. After winning the NBA Cup, their on-court play struggled on a couple of stretches. Many thought they would top the Eastern Conference this season, but they were leapfrogged by a couple of teams.
Due to their struggles, Josh Hart tried to defend his team against SAS, but the latter had none of it. Instead, Stephen A. Smith doubled on his take, blasting both Hart and the Knicks in the process.
“Message to Josh Hart, do I need to shut the hell up now? You haven’t won a game since you clapped back at me. He’s on a losing streak since he’s talked smack to me,” SAS on First Take.

Brutal rebuttal from Stephen A. Smith. But with NY’s win tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies, they finally snapped a three-game slide. However, the team might have a hard time catching up with the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics in the East standings.
NY’s regular-season performance has been inconsistent, which has inevitably garnered some outside criticisms. But what did Josh Hart say that truly infuriated Stephen A. Smith? Well, he simply blasted the TV personality by questioning his knowledge about the Knicks.
“For me, I think Stephen A. [Smith], as a part-time Knicks fan, needs to shut the hell up. He barely knows guys that are on the team,” Josh Hart said.
Expect his unexpected feud to grow louder and louder, especially with the 2026 playoffs just a couple of weeks away.
