Curry, Green upset Warriors cut Bradley?

The Golden State Warriors are obviously still tinkering with their roster, but one recent move seems to have gone against the wishes of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

For weeks now, the Warriors’ last remaining open roster slot has been the subject of much speculation. Curry commented on whom he wanted to see it go to, and all signs seemed to be pointing in one direction.

Then, suddenly, everything changed.

After Golden State’s preseason finale, the team released four players. Among those players was Avery Bradley. Despite endorsements from both Curry and Green, the 11-year vet could not secure a roster slot.

“In releasing Avery Bradley, the Warriors had to thwart the wishes of their best players,” reported Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic. “Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were among a group of strong advocates for keeping Bradley. The almost 31-year-old entering his 12th season didn’t look especially impactful in his preseason run. But those who favored Bradley weren’t at all concerned about how a proven veteran looked in preseason. Instead, they saw Bradley as someone with the credibility to help their hopes for a deep playoff run.”

Throughout his brief run with the Warriors, Bradley averaged 4.2 points on 38.9 percent shooting from the floor in 12.7 minutes per outing.

The Warriors’ final roster slot has been at the center of a lot of controversy. Between the team’s reason for dumping Isaiah Thomas and now this, it has just been one issue after another.

It will be interesting to see where all parties involved go from here. Will Golden State truly be able to find someone better than Bradley to fill that last roster spot? Time will tell.
