Stephen Curry is on pace for his best postseason

After closing out the Kings in Game 7 on Sunday with a 50-point performance, 35-year-old Golden State superstar Stephen Curry seems poised for a career-best postseason.

Against the Kings, Curry averaged 33.7 points (career playoff high), 4.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds. He shot 48.8 percent from the field (career playoff high) and 37.8 percent from beyond the arc. Curry also played 39.1 minutes per game -- his highest in the playoffs since 2014-15.

Plus, he continues to climb the list of all-time NBA playoff scorers.

"I do think it is time to at least ask the question, 'Is Steph Curry the greatest point guard who has ever lived?'," ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said after Game 7 in Sacramento -- the most hostile environment for a road playoff team in recent memory.

There is nothing Curry didn't do in willing the Warriors to win its first-round series. The 50-point showing set an NBA record for a Game 7. He sniped threes from everywhere, consistently finished through contact, effortlessly handled the ball, found his teammates all over the floor and defended in big moments.

On his podcast, Warriors forward Draymond Green said, "I can't say I knew he was gonna come out and get 50... but I knew there was no way he was gonna allow us to lose that game."

If his play continues at this level, Curry will have the most incredible postseason run of his career while chasing his second consecutive title and fifth ring overall.

Now Curry and the Warriors host the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday in the conference semifinals. Outside of Game 6 against Sacramento, Golden State has looked nearly unbeatable at home for most of the 2022-23 season.

If Golden State gets past the LeBron James-led Lakers, it will have to be because of Curry's brilliance. No one should bet against him.
