Stephen Curry has carried the Golden State Warriors on his shoulders for a long time now. But as he is nearing 39, things have started to go downhill. Trying to compete for the play-in race, the Warriors received a sombre injury update. And now, as his career is winding down, the 4-time NBA champion is ready to embrace a new role.
Speaking with Howard Beck, the 38-year-old pointed out that he is ready to serve any role for the betterment of the team. Stephen Curry also agreed to embrace the role of a mentor. Now, as surprising as it might sound, such roles are not uncommon in the NBA. Previously, the likes of Grant Hill, Paul Pierce, and Vince Carter, too, served similar roles.
“As long as he doesn’t turn into a “traffic cone,” Steph’s shooting could benefit the Warriors for years to come,” said Beck on the ‘Run It Back Podcast.’

Now, this is quite an interesting prospect for Stephen Curry going forward. But at the moment, the team would like the star player to join the team as soon as possible. With the play-offs almost slipping out of its hands, the front office now desperately eyes the play-ins. But with a 117-127 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, that opportunity, too, is slipping away.
Meanwhile, as Steve Kerr and co. are facing a major dilemma, the team is rumored to get a major upgrade in the coming summer.
The Golden State Warriors have half of their star players on the injured list. And with the 2022 NBA Finals MVP struggling with his knees, it served as the final nail in the coffin. Now then, with the team desperately needing reinforcements, rumors suggest that a big name could join soon.
And although there are no confirmations, rumors link the move to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“There’s going to be somebody next summer that’s going to join him, join Jimmy, join Draymond… whether it’s a Giannis, whether it’s a LeBron James,” Marc Spears said on ‘Willard & Dibs Show.’
