The Golden State Warriors' offseason approach has been underwhelming, at least according to the fans' standards.
The NBA free agency this year wasn't like those in the past. There wasn't a frenzy of deals, all striking within minutes of the period opening.
For the Warriors, no offseason moves outside of the draft have been made. They are set to make a decision and come to an agreement with Jonathan Kuminga, as the 22-year-old forward is a restricted free agent.
While Golden State's decision on Kuminga is certainly important, it's not a move that excites fans. A new player isn't being added alongside Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green -- rather, a former forward is likely set to make his return, for now.
One player the Warriors have been pursuing in free agency, however, is Al Horford. The veteran center helped the Boston Celtics to an NBA title run in 2024.
With the Celtics' current state -- coming after Jayson Tatum's Achilles injury that will hold him out for a season -- the club is likely to let Horford go.
The 39-year-old forward is taking his time weighing his options. Joining a Western Conference contender is in play, but retirement isn't lost on Horford as his magnificent career is winding down.
Curry, during a golf tournament, was asked about the possibility of adding Horford to their squad, as Anthony Slater shared on X. He is playing in the American Century Championship, a three-day golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada.
“He’s a champion, great player. When…if, when all that stuff happens, I’ll talk about it," Curry said.

Curry has a clear respect for Horford, though his comments are limited until a decision is made and an agreement is in place.
For the Warriors, Horford would be an ideal addition. Sure, age is potentially a concern, and something to consider. However, Golden State entered the offseason needing two things: size and shooting. Horford would provide both.
The Warriors can sign a veteran to a one-year deal with little concern, though. Curry has two years remaining on his contract. The title window is open as long as the superstar is on the squad.
Until Curry retires and the core of the roster dissassembles, the Warriors will be making win-now moves, such as targeting an older veteran in Horford in free agency.
