Warriors star Stephen Curry suggested he isn’t worried about the lack of roster movement this summer. But hey, it might not hurt, right?
While the front office continues to sort out restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation, Curry says his confidence in the team remains intact.
Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II and Seth Curry are among the players linked to Golden State once the Kuminga stalemate is resolved. For now, Curry is content to let the process play out with training camp still about six weeks away.
“It’s different, for sure,” the two-time MVP said at his youth basketball camp, via Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle. “But my confidence is built on the identity we were able to create over the last third of the regular season last year and the playoff journey.”
Curry added that he believes the Warriors “have a really good team,” while also noting the need for “some pieces to help get us to the next level.”
Entering his 17th NBA season, the 37-year-old guard said his offseason routine has “evolved drastically,” with an emphasis on movement, skill work and staying sharp. He doesn’t appear to have any lingering effects from the strained hamstring that sidelined him for nearly all of Golden State’s second-round loss to Minnesota.
“Pacing myself nice,” Curry said. “Ready to finish the summer strong. When you see me whenever Media Day is, should be primed and ready to go.”
